Grace Carter is an American ceramicist based in London.

Grace began her ceramics practice in Japan and Singapore, which heavily influences her forms, clay bodies and style of making.

She is most recently inspired by the farms, forests and kitchen gardens of the UK - she has been traveling around the country looking for the most stunning gardens, plants and produce. She immortalizes seemingly mundane flowers, fruits, and vegetables in elaborate sculptural yet functional pieces to be celebrated in homes and galleries around the world.

Grace’s artforms typically begin as multiple thrown pieces on the wheel, in her unique blend of stoneware and porcelain clays. Grace then assembles these pieces and meticulously applies slips, sprigs, oxides and glazes by hand and brush to produce her bountiful ceramic art.

Her works are high-fired in the studio or in traditional Japanese anagama wood kilns.

There is a connection between the soil that feeds our gardens and the clay used to make my art.
